Love this video – I want a yellow lab.

Labrador Retrievers are amazing dogs. My disabled grandson has a black lab as his service dog, she is wonderful. My husband and I have a big mystery mix canine that I found starving on the streets three years ago, she looks like she’s part yellow lab. She is a the best. ππ

Love this. They all made me smile, but that last one was the best. My childhood dog used to love to jump in the leaves with us. This made me think of him too.

Aww, that’s sweet.
It’s ironic that I posted that video a couple of days ago, and then today, I raked up 158 pounds of leaves from our front yard. That’s right, I weighed the bags. I didn’t get up all the leaves, because I ran out of energy. Hopefully I will get the rest tomorrow. I have never seen so many leaves come off of just one tree. It’s a leaf apocalypse!

Wow! That’s a lot of leaves. Tonight many leaves will be blown off trees around here. We are having a crazy storm. Lots of rain, but winds are up to 60mph. I know it’s nothing compared to what you guys get out there, but for me and what I’ve been used to, it’s a bit scary.

I don’t like 60 mph winds, either. π

We made it out alive. And the tree out back is still standing. There was a tree that fell during a storm into a roof of a duplex (which is what we live in too) some time ago. It was close by and I drive by it often. The tree was there for a while and when it was removed the roof was then covered with a giant blue tarp for a while. It’s fixed now and once again for rent. But every time it storms with high winds I get nervous about the tree outside the back window here.

I’m glad you’re okay! I’m nervous about storms and the big tree right by our house, too. A few weeks ago a huge old oak split and fell during an ice storm where my daughter lives in Washington state. This happened sometime before 4 in the morning. The tree just missed hitting the house. My daughter was sleeping right where the tree almost hit the house.
A work crew came in and cut the tree all up and hauled it away. The trailer they hauled it on was weighed when it was empty, then weighed again when it was full. The part of the tree that fell weighed over 3,000 pounds!
Here’s the weird thing. Two days before the tree fell, I was in church and I felt compelled to ask the entire church to pray for my daughter. I didn’t know why I felt that way, but I did ask for prayers for her. Two days later, when she sent me pictures of the massive oak tree lying on the ground right beside the window where she was sleeping — wow. Just wow!
She said it sounded like a train had derailed in the yard. They don’t live anywhere near a railroad so yeah, it was terrifying! But my daughter is okay!!

Oh my gosh! That’s crazy! And scary. I’m so glad the tree missed the house and that your daughter is okay. Gives me anxiety to think how close it came to hitting the house.
Well, I’m not surprised about the other part though…that you ‘felt’ something and were compelled to ask everyone to pray for your daughter.
3,000 pounds too…that would do a lot of damage. Thank God that tree missed.

I saw this, my husband shared it with me when it popped up in his Facebook account…so much better then the news.

Totally. But I’ve been raking leaves lately and beginning to rethink my definition of joy… π
