I saw my doctor yesterday for my annual wellness checkup. She recommended that I have the pneumococcal vaccine. I usually shy away from vaccines but she was very persuasive.
“Your immune system tends to weaken as you get older,” she said. (Cheery thought.) “And with your history of bronchitis and chest colds, you really should.”
She explained that this vaccine contains no live virus and that getting sick from it is very rare, less than 1%. So, I agreed to let her nurse inoculate me. I scarcely felt the needle.
Because I am so healthy and I exercise every day, I assumed that I wouldn’t have any negative reactions.
Wrong. Everything hurts. Every single part of my body, HURTS.
Sorry, but I just had to come on here and whine.Β Typing even hurts. π°
I’m posting this picture of our old Cattle dog, Lady, greeting the neighbor’s horses, because it makes me feel a little better, every time I look at it. π
Sorry you’re having to go through this.

Thanks. I’m sure I can talk my husband into buying me some ice cream. So there’s a bonus. π

Thank you. My dogs hope so, too. They want to go out and I just can’t right now. Hopefully my husband will be home soon.

True. I don’t regret having the inoculation, for that reason.

Hmmm, you too? It seems that when my doctor is explaining things to me, more often than not the explanation begins with “As we get older ⦔ ):-(

Lol. I really don’t feel old enough to have a great grandson, and a granddaughter who’s getting married in a couple of weeks!
Well, except right now. Right now, I feel like I am about 1,000 years old.

Oh no, I’m sorry this has happened to you, too.
My husband just called my doctor and described my symptoms. She told him this should all be gone tomorrow. I hope so.

i am better, yes, thank the Lord. Still sore all over, but not half as bad as yesterday.
I googled my reaction to the pneumococcal vaccine: only 1% have a reaction. So, I guess that makes me a one percenter. π
I remember reading years ago that people with the rarest blood type, Ab negative, tend to have the most adverse reactions to medications. That’s my blood type. I also read that people with the rarest eye color, green, have the same tendency. Yup, my eyes are green.
I don’t know if there’s any truth to that correlation. But having rare adverse reactions to meds is normal for me.
Yesterday was the worst I have ever felt in my life, and that’s saying something, believe me! I don’t expect dying to hurt that bad!
But here’s the amazing thing. As bad as I felt, my spirit still had peace and gratitude. That can only come from God. Even on the worst days, He’s still got me!
Thank you so much for your concern and prayer. π

I have brown eyes and the most common blood type, but I once had a similar reaction to a vaccine. Not fun.
Hope you are back to normal now. β€οΈ

Thank you, my friend. I’m feeling 99% back to normal now, although I could use more sleep. Our big dog likes to put her nose in my face and wake me at sunrise, regardless of how late I go to bed. Thanks to her cuteness, she gets away with a lot. π
I’m sorry you had this happen, too. Man, that was bad. With this vaccine, it’s recommended to have a booster in one year, and then supposedly you are immune for life from this particular bacterial strain. But I don’t think I can do that, it might kill me next time.
I think brown eyes are the best. Like chocolate. π

I canβt tell you how many times Iβve fallen into the group of small probabilities! So I ALWAYS listen to med commercials because if itβs going to happen to anyone, itβs gonna be me. I blame my mother because in 1965, she came up with LaRonda instead of something under the radar like Mary. And because so much more was her fault. And because sheβs dead and canβt sue me. π Hope you got your ice cream!

I did get some ice cream. But I was so sick, it didn’t even taste good.
I’m all better now though, thank the Lord. This Friday I am flying to Connecticut to my granddaughter’s wedding. And trying not to stress about flying! It doesn’t help that my husband, who bought me the airline tickets back in March as a surprise, is now saying that he “has a bad feeling” about me going and he wants me to stay! I’m like, “But you bought the tickets!!” Sigh.. I am feeling a little bewildered at this moment. Which is why I appreciated your post so much. I’m going to read it again…
